My big boy Tonka on the dog bed.  The dog has tried to get on his bed when Tonka is on it.....Tonka growls at him and Chance backs away

Tonka is HUGE...but you won't ever see him if you come over.....he is very shy and will hide the entire time

Our new little girly Ursala has decided she likes the dog bed also.

But she is willing to share with Chance.

We had a froggy visit recently

And a white tiger

4 cats

1 dog

2 kids

a full house

I love it!

Busy
that's how it's been
but life with toddlers
that is to be expected

I've been avoiding
many things

I've written about
my struggle with depression
I decided it was time
time to decrease my meds
after consulting with my doctor

I would have to say
it was not the right decision
I have slowly been falling
falling back
back into the depths of depression

I had just climbed out
of the deep hole
I was enjoying the wonderful view
I then turned around
and peered back down
then slowly
inch by unnoticeable inch
I headed back down
but my sight was not looking down
not yet
I could still see the wonderful that was
maybe that is why I didn't notice

Things just changed ever so slightly
until the anxiety bubbled
the tears came
my thoughts are muddled
my body is shaky
my sleep is not restful
my mind has thoughts of death
I am overwhelmed
with the slightest thing

I can now see it
the decline
the so slight decline
that continues
but this time
I know the drill
I picked up the phone
insisted on an appointment
as soon as possible
it was not as difficult
as the first time I had to call
two years ago
when I teetered
I'm more aware
aware of the help I can get

I will not slip any farther down that slope
I know what it involves
It may have crept up on me
but I now know what to do
I will climb back out
I will heal
it will just take time
prayer and support
all of which I have

Until that time
I will go back up on my meds
I will enjoy life
I will love my family
I will take my time
I will heal
and I will try again

Last week
I took the pressure
off myself
with sick kids
why make it harder on myself
I decided dinner was
to be an easy affair
we had this 2x
and I'm okay with that
Toast with Ham, Avocado and Tomato
it's so yummy

the kids are feeling better
it makes me happy

the other night
I found my little man
like this in his bed
after I took this picture
the flash woke him up
and he yelled at me
opps, sorry
but it did make me giggle!

today it was nice
to not have sick kids
we have been stuck at home
for almost 2 weeks
my little man went to preschool again
I did a bit of grocery shopping
and I have to say
I so enjoy shopping
at Neufelds
they are so kind and friendly
they truly put a bit
of light in my day today
thanks ladies!

put together a menu
for the week
I have a long
to do list for this week
I'm taking advantage
of my parents being here
so we are throwing
meals together as we go
tonight was spaghetti
tomorrow, spaghetti bake
you get the idea I'm sure

Today we had an incident
so dinner needed to
be easy and fast
enter
Cheater Stuffed Baked Potatoes
Always an easy dish
and always so good
no matter the vegetables
that you add in

dinner times at our house
have not been a happy event
girly
she is on a hunger strike
only at dinner time

she also feels the need
to get up out of her chair
as a result of not eating
and not sitting
she has been standing
in the corner
for the majority of dinner time
today however
it didn't seem to
bother her

my little man
had a run in
with our tonka cat
he closed the door
on tonka's tail
and mayhem ensued
the little man
has some scratches
but a big owie on his finger

the cat cut thru
his finger nail
into the flesh under it
and ripped across it
it is very sore
he's very sad
and it's still seeping blood
he's on bandaid number #2

Randomcity - Running on Empty

Today
this was me
I got nothin
I'm running on empty
I haven't even
been able to
cook anything on
my menu plan
I need to refuel
I need to figure out how
but over all
life is really great
other than feeling
out of gas
I'm hoping to refuel

the cats are finally
getting along
this is always a nice thing
when you introduce a new cat
we found a home for our diego kitty
who is now named LULU Belle
and due with kittens any day

I've been MIA
my power cord
died
Yeesh these cords
are PRICEY

we celebrated my nieces
19th Birthday
oh, man, this makes me old
we went for dinner
my kids love her
and my girly loves
my nieces boyfriend

the little man
he loves cake
and his cousin
but cake too

the kidlets and I
were busy on Saturday
there were so many things
going on in town
we picked two
FREE things to check out
a local small town fair
where I forgot to take pictures
and we didn't stay long
rain was on the way
the second event
was the Multi Cultural Fair
I loved seeing all the different cultures
I really enjoyed seeing so many people
dressed in their cultural garb
as they all checked out the different sites
some great friends of mine
had a Guatemala booth
they have a close attachment to Guatemala
their daughter moved there over 11 years ago
and they started Love Guatemala
once they saw the needs of the people
they also have started to reach out
the people of Mexico

we had a very nice weekend
I`m going over meal options
for my menu plan this week
so check back very soon
to see the wonderful menu
at least I hope it will be wonderful

Today was a pretty Random day
the usual morning fighting
between kidlets
and then getting ready
for Thursday play group
I made Quinoa for breakfast
HEHE, yes I did!
am I a bit crazy
more than likely

I cooked it up half way
then added some apple
raisins and cinnamon
served it with
brown sugar and some milk
HIT! loved by all

I was not into cooking today
I couldn't remember my menu plan
I didn't care to look at it
I went to Neufelds
picked up some veggies
and dinner
not the most healthy
but I still couldn't resist
adding veggies to the sauce
I chopped up some
red pepper
yellow squash
and spinach
meet our unhealthy
but ever so yummy dinner
Linguine with Alfredo sauce
and Chicken Tenders


I noticed when getting dinner ready
that we had some guests
already waiting to eat


I've been asked
if cooking squash
is really as easy
as I make it seem
just cut it up and cook it
well, yes and no
it depends on the squash you use
the ones I cut up
and use most often
I would describe
as a soft skinned squash
here is a picture of
a few of the ones I use


if you think in the terms
that Zucchini is made into
cake, cookies, muffins
then why would you not
be able to do the same
with the other soft squash?
I generally will shred
or just cut these squash up
and throw them into most anything
they don't have to much taste
and I find they tend to absorb
whatever they are cooked with

Spaghetti, Acorn, Butternut or Banana Squash
are much tougher
and generally are cooked
for a longer period
and most often in the oven

have you cooked any squash this season?
You should, it's a super easy way
to get some veggies in for the day

Here is my little man
do you remember his friend
from yesterday
the leather jacket he named 'Bird'
today he had to post a note
on the outside of the door
in case Bird came over for a visit
ignore my dirty door
and giggle at the imagination

and did you know
we have dinosaurs
living in our backyard
I didn't know either
but the little man
has been offering them
beverages all day
he tells me they like apple juice
good to know in case
you ever have a 'long neck' visiting

I have no idea what
the girly was doing
at dinner time
but she's so cute
no matter what

and my sidekick
has been doing fantastic
I took him off leash today
and he was a star
the cats have even stopped hissing at him
however he will still go the long way around
to avoid them

Sometimes I wonder if life will slow down
then I think I just make it busy
who really knows
my menu plan as been okay
I made a fantastic potato soup
no pictures
I couldn't find my camera

Tonight I was too tired to think
so we had spaghetti
easy
yummy
always a hit

this week we lost a pet
and gained a pet
our dog needed to leave
he was biting
we are on the hunt for a new dog

our new pet
a nother cat
she was homeless
starving
and followed me home
HONEST
my husband says he saw
me go in the ditch to get her
I didn't
HONEST
but I didn't discourage her
from coming home with me

my little man named her Diego
I don't have the heart to explain
it's a boy name and a girl cat
Diego loves us
she brings us many many presents
a few mice a day
normally uneaten
sometimes alive
sometimes dead
until today

isn't that wonderful to come home to
it's so nice she loves us
she is actually an amazing cat
and yes
I am now the crazy cat lady
I'm coming to terms with this

I needed a nap
I sent my wonderful amazing husband out
with the kidlets
to costco
right before the last weekend of summer vacay
not the nicest for him
heaven for me
girly helped to bring in the groceries

we will see what tomorrow brings
I need to review my menu plan
I can't remember what I planned!

Monday August 23/10

Beef and Broccoli
SO SO GOOD!
I used a package of seasoning
I added cabbage and carrots
served on rice
This will be on the menu again!

My in laws came for dinner
my father in law is very good at playing with the kids
it's so fun to watch

a new kitten followed me home
she is so sweet
but I can't keep her
I already have 3 cats.....
the kids of course love her

with fresh, local blueberries

Cast Girl loved them

We've had nice weather
so why not be outside
enjoying it
