House Remodel - Kitchen Ceilings

Ah, remodeling...a big task...
My folks bought this house about 15 years ago and gutted it. My mom has said this was her favorite house. Of course it was post kids...a small three bedroom on a little bit of property, the house is actually so old it doesn't even show up on city records. My mom decorated it to her style and the way she loved, the house was a home welcoming and warm. My folks being as generous as they are have not lived in it much of the 15 years. They opened it up my sister's family of 6 when their house burnt down and then my folks decided to move into an RV full time so they could travel...a dream they have had for years and my sister and her family once again rented it for a few years. I always loved the place and we bought it from my folks almost 5 years ago. In an attempt to make it more 'ours' I painted when we moved in, but didn't get it all done and then life got busy and money was needed elsewhere...
So now, with most things in the house hitting the 14 yearish mark...it's time.....
I'm so excited to update it and make it more ours.

We are redoing the kitchen and bathroom and just updating a few other things with paint and things...

We had a large fluorescent light taken down and some pot lights put in, thanks to a friend who does electrical during his 'free' time. (the ceiling has not yet been painted here)

You can faintly see where the light was by the marks on the ceiling
We put the light in over the table when we moved in....but that will be changing also...the cupboards are staying....everything else....gone....

I'm torn on getting another garden window or just a normal window...this window sticks out and has a shelf in it for plants and such...
You can see I never finished painting here as we have needed to replace this window due to moisture issues....the wall paper above the counter is from my Mom's decorating. Picture new counter tops and a new sink with new faucet

Getting ready for painting...a coat of special paint was first put on the ceiling as we have MAJOR flies here and there is fly poop all over the ceiling and if you don't deal with it properly it will come thru the new paint

Our sweet painter Lucas...a friend of my nieces and a great painter....not to mention a little more cost effective then the pros....

Painting the ceiling in the living room...we aren't really changing to to much in this room

And if you think I did a post with out one of my kidlets...you need to go back and look closely...you'll see one of them! And just in case...here they are with their Grandpa!

  2. Good work. I like the yellow. Are you keeping some yellow in your new color scheme? And the kitchen ceiling, what an improvement. I say this with a fluorescent fixture on my kitchen ceiling ;) I love the glass doorknobs too.
